Tile-based puzzle action game
FlipTiles: Warp Lines is a premium action game by developer Grant Morgan. It's a fast-paced, top-down gameplay experience that's a mash-up of different mechanics and genres. Players will pilot their ship as they speed through twisting warp lines on a tile-based board akin to runner games. They can avoid enemies by moving tiles around or taking them head-on and shooting them down.
Retro futuristic neon runner
In FlipTiles: Warp Lines, you pilot your ship through pathways called warp lines that twist in various ways on a grid-based board. Maps and enemies are procedurally generated as you move along the grid. Avoid enemy fire by twisting, turning, and flipping tiles, or shooting them down to collect diamonds, which you'll use to upgrade one of the six unique ships you can pilot.
You can also use diamonds to purchase over 50 modules to equip your ship with and use on your runs. They are basically a set of maneuvers and actions you can trigger as you want during your run. Suffice it to say, the game comes with a steep learning curve, which will put some players off.
Unique but confusing amalgamation
FlipTiles: Warp Lines is a unique game, to say the least, with its combination of different gameplay mechanics that offer something different that can't quite be boxed into a single experience. It does sacrifice accessibility in its pursuit of distinctiveness. If you're up to the challenge, give it a go.
